Society Leadership Conference (SLC) – Washington, DC
Two of CFA Society of Sydney’s directors were able to attend the SLC which was located in Washington DC, USA from 11 - 13 October. The representatives were Richard Brandweiner, CFA (Treasurer) and Paul Allard, CFA (Membership Services Chair).
One of the presenters was Sydney's own Emilio Gonzalez, who spoke eloquently when he presented CFA Institute's role in the global capital markets.
CFA Institute hosts these events to bring together leaders from the different societies from across the globe. There are a multitude of forums to attend where attendees network, share ideas, best practices and information on resources available to the societies. The majority of the presentations were done by the leaders of societies, whereby they shared what initiatives they have undertaken, both ones which were successful and those which needed more refining or were simply found not useful to the membership base.
The knowledge obtained during the conference will be brought back to CFA Society of Sydney where your board of directors will discuss implementing new ideas and ameliorating current programs available to the members.
